My Thoughts A Year Later

I recently passed the one year mark of this blog and boy has it been a ride and eye opener. When I first started blogging, I thought this would probably end up as a hobby, forgotten after three months.

Yet here I am – still going strong and trying think of new ideas to keep this venture going. I didn’t know that by blogging I would be opening myself up to a world of Urbanspoon rankings, restaurant invites, offers to make up for my dissatisfaction and new online networks.

On the other hand, I also didn’t know there would be several tiers of bloggers, a subtle mix of politics and confusion over what sort of review to write once a restaurant had invited you.

Then there was the issue of writing for Weekendnotes – which articles did I put on here and which articles did I reserve for Weekendnotes? And the offer to write for Livlicious provided a similar ordeal.

With so many bloggers out there, how would I make myself stand out from the rest?

Alas, I think I’ve come up with a strategy. I would put my food blogs on this WordPress, my roadtrips, events and top food lists on Weekendnotes and Livlicious would have a mix of everything – generally topics that had already been covered on Weekendnotes by other writers, so I wouldn’t double up articles on that website.

I started being more open to offline meetings with bloggers, events with friends and a different tactic for food blogging, considering there are so many Melbourne blogs out there. Hell, I even got a DSLR to improve on both my food photography and roadtrip snaps.

I’m grateful for all the support and have been amazed at the amout of compliments on my writing style. In addition to this, I would love all your constant feedback and advice! Meanwhile, check out all my latest articles on my other websites below.
