Mission #3: Mobile Food

It’s my third month experimenting with this theme/mission concept and I’m excited to announce the next one of ‘mobile food’. You might have noticed after my burst of blogs towards the end of September that I am now a little tired. I feel like this mission may be a bit laid back than the first two, so I hope my dear readers are OK with that!

Mission Overview
I chose the phrase ‘mobile food’ because I didn’t want to limit it to food trucks – although trust me, I will be stalking them down. I mean some people set up carts, trade from stalls rather than trucks, and still cater to a variety of locations.

On a bit more of a personal note, I’m planning Mon’s Adventures in a few other states at the end of this year, so it’s money saving time AND healthy eating time before summer suddenly comes around. I’m aiming to focus more on my offline wellbeing with more gym visits and healthy choices (but who knows how long that will last!)

With this in mind, I won’t be trying as many places this month but still hope to keep you engaged. I would love all your recommendations for the future and so I can share them with my readers. The healthier recommendations would be welcome but I don’t mind a good ol’ snag or burger every now and again too!

I was also planning a simultaneous theme of dog-friendly spots (beaches, parks etc) to celebrate Amicus, the golden retriever‘s first birthday, but with limited time and other personal things, this will have to wait for an alternative month.

To take a more laid-back approach this month I won’t be having a full-blown event. However, I will be around the new Batman Market in Coburg this weekend, eagerly looking out for some food stalls/trucks including Nuoc Mama and more! So if you’re around, you might spot me, or keep track of my Instagram/Facebook for where I might drop by this month.

From the birdies
I did originally plan to drop by Yarraville Gardens where I hear food trucks gather constantly, but may not be able to fit this in this month. A little birdy tells me there is also an aim to start another food truck hotspot near Whitten Oval, Footscray. Some new eateries include Toasta, a food truck serving toasted sandwiches and house-mixed sodas, and 400 Degree, a new kebab joint using meats marinated in Indian herbs and spices. My film festival colleague even mentioned attending his friend’s new ice-cream truck’s tasting event!

There is definitely not a shortage of trucks or mobile food spots in Melbourne. But do you think there’s too many? What are your some of your favourites?

So many have popped up recently! The trend caught on really quickly. There are so many to choose from. I will totally head to Batman park- it is nearby, thought not this weekend. Already got things planned then, ha.

Toasta looks good though it does charge 10 dollars for a toastie, which I think is a bit steep.

I like the creme brûlée truck and I also like beatbox kitchen. I can’t wait to read about where you go. 🙂

You have been blogging hard! You have to give yourself (your belly) a break every now and then ha!

I love Beatbox too, handy as they stop by work every now and again (and also dangerous). Yes I’m excited for Batman Market but can imagine it will be totally packed opening weekend so it’s probably better to go another time, there seems to be a multicultural focus, which I hope shines through!

Loving the idea of furry-friend spots – my fur baby loves to brunch with me! I haven’t had the chance to take him yet, but Cafe Zen Den in Eltham actually do a dog’s breakfast!! Can’t wait to give it a whirl!

Might see you at the Batman Market too this weekend! So excited!
