If I had the power of foresight – this month’s theme might have been “Invites” – this week itself has been pretty crazy! I won this invite to T by Luxbite’s launch party by participating in a regram competition on Instagram and the chances were slim, but I was one of the last ones picked. Huzzah!
And how suitable when I thought of the tarts I have tried in the past by Luxbite, such as the kalamansi tart at Sugar Hit Melbourne and the autumn apple tart from, well, autumn.
The event still fits this month’s theme as there were plenty of Melbourne bloggers to see snapping away. The store front itself had a display full of their signature macarons, which are also present at their primary Luxbite store, and their creative tarts, which is what this store is all about!
The store still seemed to be undergoing some work, thus they are expected to launch next week. The party was held next door to the store front where a table in the middle of the room was beautifully scattered with various tarts.
The room was quite squishy but had all of Luxbite’s VIP guests close and comfy to the tarts and each other. It was so close and crowded that I didn’t even notice that Adriano Zumbo was there – probably because he was surrounded by people – oops! Other food industry names present included Pierrick Boyer of Le Petit Gateau and Andrew Prior, past Masterchef contestant.
I have to say the tart that caught my eye was the above mountain of sweetness. The shiny glaze of the balls with cream in the middle just made it look like an excellent, decadent dessert, perfect to indulge in or share with perhaps another person. Unfortunately there were no samples of this beauty and we couldn’t eat the display table but I believe it is called Picnic and involves peanut butter.
Another interesting looking piece was the charcoal dusted tart with meringue swirls on top, which I now know as the Lemon tart. As the night started, small savoury bites were served such as skewers, oysters and more but when mini versions of the tarts were finally served they disappeared like lightning.
We managed to sample the charcoal coloured one and the raspberry-topped one also pictured – the Yuzu. I really enjoyed the charcoal one as it had a lemon tang but not overwhelmingly tart, whilst the remaining subtle flavours combined to make a delicious piece.
All I remember about the Yuzu was the marshmallows on top. I found marshmallows a bit odd on a tart as you chew through it, the textures a bit too contrasting with the tart base for my liking.
The above plate also sparked my interest – but didn’t all of them? – as this housed our favourite Kalamansi tart and this beautiful Mango arrangement. Mango is my favourite fruit so I will be lining up to try this one along with the Picnic.
It was great putting faces to names from Instagram such as Dave/theragingpiglet, a friendly soul whom I’ve interacted a lot with on social media, and Kenneth/emeow33 who admitted he doesn’t even like sweets! And I also got to meet new people such as Charlie/curiousxcharlie, who I spotted at another event the next day.
What was great about the night is that the idea was to thank those closest to Luxbite for their support, to show appreciation to those in the food industry, the bloggers, the customers, the business partners and the staff, in playing a part in allowing the Luxbite brand to grow and open their second store.
It was great to see this appreciation and sense of family rather than a large media show. I’d like to thank T by Luxbite for the invitation via their competition and send all my well wishes to Bernard and Yen.
Above you will find a picture full of smiles and celebrations featuring owners Bernard and Yen, award winning chef Anna Polyviou and N2 Melbourne representative.
T by Luxbite have announced that they will open on the 28th November. It is located at 517 Flinders Lane, The Archway in an attempt to liven up the quieter end of Flinders Lane.
Mon’s Adventures was invited as a guest of T by Luxbite via an Instagram competition. Photo credit goes to @the.adventouriist. She has just created a photography account so feel free to follow her and check it out!
Ohhh you crazy lucky lady!!! AMAZING!!! Ahhh I want cake so bad right now!
Haha yes I was indeed lucky in this case! I can’t wait until they open!!
Beautiful photos by @the.adventouriist! I would have expected more tart samples to be available
Yes me too, but I guess it will be more full of surprise and excitement when they officially open!
The picnic looks amazing, I’m so excited about trying it! And the mango and yuzu one too! There were samples of the picnic & meringue floating around, though they were probably very limited as we only saw them on instagram. 😛
Oh I had the meringue, it was lovely but couldn’t see the picnic!
